Dermal filler treatment can be done in the office and usually takes less than 15 minutes. You can drive yourself to the appointment and return to normal activity immediately after the treatment.
We use a needle so small you can barely see it with the naked eye and the dermal fillers have numbing medicine in them. With any needle stick, you will feel a small pin prick but the filler itself does not cause pain. Sensitivity always depends on the patient and the area being treated but any discomfort is temporary and goes away within minutes.

You will meet with Dr. Boyd to discuss your goals and history. If a treatment is right for you Dr. Boyd will gently clean the area to be treated and you will receive a series of injections that typically take only a few minutes. We usually ask you not to re-apply makeup for 24 hours to the treated areas but otherwise you can return to normal activity immediately.
You may have some numbness in the area treated for an hour or two just like when you go to the dentist but once that wears off you will have normal facial expressions. You will have some mild swelling in the area treated that typically resolves in a one or two days and then you are left with the added volume effect of the filler.
You will have temporary numbness in the area treated from the numbing medicine that is mixed into the filler. This typically goes away in one to two hours.
Fillers can last up to one year and gradually absorb and fade away over time. You can add additional filler to restore your volume as need after the initial treatment.
