Liposuction

Dr. Boyd utilizes advanced micro-cannular tumescent liposuction which is a rapid recovery technique that can effectively sculp areas of stubborn fat in patients who are appropriate candidates.

About Liposuction

When diet and exercise alone are not producing the results that you desire, you may consider liposuction to eliminate pockets of fat in stubborn areas. Liposuction is a very popular procedure that is designed for removal of fatty tissue that is out of proportion to the rest of the body.

Please be aware that due to scheduling constraints, Dr. Boyd currently has limited capacity to accept new liposuction patients.  You are invited to schedule a consultation to determine if we can offer a surgical solution.  If we are unable to meet your needs in our center, Dr. Boyd’s will provide you information, options, and alternatives for care.

How it Works

Dr. Boyd performs liposuction using the pure Tumescent, no incision, microcannular technique. A special solution is used to provide local anesthesia to the area being targeted. Next, micro-suction cannulas no bigger than a pencil lead are introduced through 1.5-millimeter sites called adits. These small cannulas allow for smoother results while minimizing trauma to the tissues.

Pure tumescent anesthesia utilizes a local anesthesia solution to eliminate discomfort during the procedure and minimize bleeding.  This method can also greatly reduce the risk and recovery associated with traditional liposuction. Tumescent liposuction is widely regarded as the safest form of liposuction.

Patients are amazed to find they can talk on their cell phones or listen to music while the procedure is being performed and with this technique most patients are back to work in a day or two with only Tylenol needed for postoperative discomfort.

Candidates for
Liposuction

  • Are at least 18 years of age
  • Are in good physical and mental health
  • Have good skin elasticity
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Have fatty tissue that does not respond to diet or exercise
  • Have fat deposits out of proportion to surrounding tissue

Liposuction is not a weight loss technique.  It is best used to contour stubborn areas that don’t respond to diet and exercise and is reserved to treat areas that persist after a patient has reached their minimum weight.

Success Stories

Over 25 Years in Practice and Thousands of Satisfied Patients

Saddle Bags

I'm a thin girl but I have always had these lumps of fat on the outside of my thighs that never went away. They felt like saddle bags when I wore tight pants or jeans. I really like how the liposuction smoothed these areas without scars or a large amount of downtime.

Belly Fat

I exercise all the time but I had a little pooch of fat around my belly button that I would not go away. I was able to have this removed under local anesthesia without a big recovery and I was able to see the results before the procedure ended. It was a great experience.

Hippy

I lost weight but my hips still gave me a mushroom top my jeans that I didn't like. I was able to contour these areas nicely and improve the curves of my silhouette. I only had to wear a binder after surgery for a short time and I was out and walking the next day.

Quick answers to questions you may have

The areas to be treated will be marked and confirmed before you are positioned comfortably in the operating suite.  Tumescent fluid will be administered to numb the areas to be treated and after good anesthesia is confirmed the excess fat will be suctioned using small cannulas.

If you are having pure tumescent liposuction you will be awake during the procedure and able to stand and confirm your satisfaction with the results before the procedure is complete.  If you are having liposuction in concert with other procedures or require additional anesthesia to be comfortable we have a board certified M.D. anthologist at your service.

Tumescent micro cannular liposuction is performed using small cannulas not much bigger than a pencil lead.  They are introduced through 1 to 2 millimeter punch sites called adits.  You will not have incisions that require stitches.

Another huge advantage of the tumescent technique is the quick return to work and activities.  You will have an absorbent pad and compression garment in place but we encourage you to start taking walks the day after surgery.  Most patients require nothing more than Tylenol after surgery.
